    • Indole-based perenosins as highly potent HCl transporters and potential anti-cancer agents

Jowett, Laura A.; Howe, Ethan N.W.; Soto-Cerrato, Vanessa; Van Rossom, Wim; Pérez-Tomás, Ricardo; Gale, Philip A.
      Published 2017-01-01
Prodigiosin is one of the most potent anion transporters in lipid bilayer membranes reported to date. Inspired by the structure of this natural product, we have recently designed and synthesised a new class of H+/Cl− ...

    • A tripodal tris-selenourea anion transporter matches the activity of its thio- analogue but shows distinct selectivity

Spooner, Michael J.; Gale, Philip A.
      Published 2018-01-01
We report the synthesis of a tripodal tris-selenourea transporter scaffold. The Cl− and NO− 3 transport activity of the compound has been compared extensively with the analogous oxo- and thiourea compounds. We found that ...

    • Fluorinated tripodal receptors for potentiometric chloride detection in biological fluids

Pankratova, Nadezda; Cuartero, Maria; Jowett, Laura A.; Howe, Ethan N.W.; Gale, Philip A.; Bakker, Eric; Crespo, Gastón A.
      Published 2017-07-01
Fluorinated tripodal compounds were recently reported to be efficient transmembrane transporters for a series of inorganic anions. In particular, this class of receptors has been shown to be suitable for the effective ...
