Such consumer preference is inducing airlines to form strategic alliances with foreign airlines in order to attract custom to their networks. This paper presents a framework for modelling strategic alliance partner choice in international aviation. The stated preference modelling exercise for testing the relative weights of the partner attribute is described. It is generally acknowledged that consumers prefer to fly with an airline that has an extensive network.
