    • Topology polymorphism graph for lung tumor segmentation in PET-CT images

Cui, Hui; Wang, Xiuying; Zhou, Jianlong; Eberl, Stefan; Yin, Yong; Feng, Dagan; Fulham, Michael
      Published 2013-01-01
Accurate lung tumor segmentation is problematic when the tumor boundary or edge, which reflects the advancing edge of the tumor, is difficult to discern on chest CT or PET. We propose a ‘topo-poly’ graph model to improve ...

    • Static friction between rigid fractal surfaces

Alonso-Marroquin, Fernando; Huang, Pengyu; Hanaor, Dorian A. H.; Flores-Johnson, E. A.; Proust, Gwenaelle; Gan, Yixiang; Shen, Luming
      Published 2015-09-17
Using spheropolygon-based simulations and contact slope analysis, we investigate the effects of surface topography and atomic scale friction on the macroscopically observed friction between rigid blocks with fractal surface ...

    • A numerical study of bioinspired nacre-like composite plates under blast loading

Flores-Johnson, E.A.; Luming, Shen; Guiamatsia, Irene; Nguyen, Giang D.
      Published 2015-08-01
In this paper, a multi-layered composite inspired by the hierarchical structure of nacre and made of layers of aluminium alloy AA 7075 bonded with toughened epoxy resin is introduced for blast resistant applications. The ...

    • Effects of heat treatment and strain rate on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 6061 Al alloy

Li, Ling; Flores-Johnson, E.A.; Shen, Luming; Proust, Gwénaëlle
      Published 2015-01-23
In the present work, the effects of heat treatment and strain rate on mechanical behaviour and microstructure evolution of aluminium alloy (AA) 6061 have been investigated. The micro-crack initiation and crystallographic ...

    • Experimental characterisation of the mechanical properties and microstructure of Acrocomia mexicana fruit from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico

      Flores-Johnson, E.A.; Carrillo, J.G.; Gamboa, R.A.; Shen, Luming
      Published 2014-12-01
A study of the mechanical properties and microstructure at different drying conditions of the Cocoyol fruit endocarp of Acrocomia Mexicana palm found in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico was performed. Quasi-static uniaxial ...
