This paper summaries a significant report, commissioned by the Australasian Railway Association (ARA, 2006), and prepared with the assistance of L.E.K. Consulting. The objective of the report was to provide a national perspective on the key challenges and pressures on public transport in Australia, present new facts and data at a national level, and to propose an agenda for action.
