Trust and Cultural Difference in an Age of Digital Platforms

Abstract

This short paper was presented at the Sino-Australian High-level Dialogue Forum on Culture and Humanities, hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of Australian Prime Minster Gough Whitlam's visit to China - the first by an Australian Head of State - it reviewed the relationship between globalisation and cosmopolitanism in Australian politics, and the implications for Australia-China relations.
