See moreTranslation has always played an important role in human communication, in all fields. It continues to do so, especially in today's emergence of environmental culture and discourse from a sustainability perspective around the world. This book explores words and concepts related to the environment in several languages, and provides a linguistic profile of key elements: dimensions and processes at work in the translation, diffusion, adaptation and evolution of cultures and discourses. It emphasizes temporality, spatiality, cultural specificity, and cross-cultural comparability of local environmental practices. The dynamic nature of different environmental cultures is emphasized through empirical linguistic research, such as statistical modeling of multilingual digital environmental data collected in original and translated documents.
