    • Influence of type and dosage of micro-fibres on the physical properties of fibre reinforced mortar matrixes

      Simões, T.; Costa, H.; Dias-da-Costa, D.; Júlio, E.
      Published 2018-01-01
An experimental study is herein presented focusing the physical properties of fibre-reinforced mortar. A reference mortar mixture was adopted and three different types of reinforcement with micro fibres (steel, polypropylene ...

    • Model uncertainty in discrete and smeared crack prediction in RC beams under flexural loads

      Dias-da-Costa, D.; Cervenka, V.; Graça-e-Costa, R.
      Published 2018-01-01
Advanced non-linear finite element models are currently available to perform the design of concrete structures. The development and calibration of the safety factors for the next generation of design guidelines will require ...

    • Microstructure characterisation and mechanical properties of a functionally-graded NbC/high chromium white cast iron composite

Kan, Wen Hao; Albino, Carlos; Dias-da-Costa, D.; Dolman, Kevin; Lucey, Timothy; Tang, Xinhu; Chang, Li; Proust, Gwénaëlle; Cairney, Julie
      Published 2018-01-01
A functionally graded NbC – high chromium white cast iron composite was successfully fabricated by centrifugal casting for high wear applications. The migration of primary NbC particles to the outer periphery, as predicted ...

    • Influence of concrete strength and steel fibre geometry on the fibre/matrix interface

      Simões, T.; Octávio, C.; Valença, J.; Costa, H.; Dias-da-Costa, D.; Júlio, E.
      Published 2017-01-01
The main objective of the research described in this paper was to evaluate how the concrete compressive strength and the geometry of the steel fibres influence the behaviour of the fibre/matrix interface. With this aim, ...
