    • Experimental investigation of full-range action-deformation behaviour of top-and-seat angle and web angle connections

Jiang, Luli; Rasmussen, Kim; Zhang, Hao
      Published 2018-12-01
Web angle connections are usually categorized as a type of pinned connection whose moment resisting capacity is assumed negligible. Hence, there is a lack of experimental data in regard to the moment-rotation behavior of ...

    • System-based limit state design criterion for 3D steel frames under wind loads

Liu, Wenyu; Zhang, Hao; Rasmussen, Kim; Yan, Shen
      Published 2019-06-01
Advanced nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) enables the Direct Design Method (DDM) of a frame by computational analysis in place of designing members and connections to codified specific equations. The Direct Design ...

    • Experimental Assessment of Bolted Moment End-plate Connections

Zhu, Chen; Rasmussen, Kim; Yan, Shen; Zhang, Hao
      Published 2019-08-01
The paper summarizes experiments conducted at the University of Sydney on bolted moment end-plate connections. The overall context of this work was to obtain full-range moment-rotation curves of the connections which can ...

    • System reliability-based Direct Design Method for space frames with cold–formed steel hollow sections

Liu, Wenyu; Zhang, Hao; Rasmussen, Kim
      Published 2018-07-01
Design-by-analysis methods for steel structures are receiving considerable attention from professional engineers, researchers and standard-writing groups. Designing by analysis, termed as the Direct Design Method (DDM), ...

    • Fracture simulation of constructional steels in two fracture modes

Yan, Shen; Rasmussen, Kim; Zhao, Xianzhong
      Published 2019-07-01
The paper presents a comprehensive study, aiming to provide useful tools for numerically predicting the fracture phenomenon in steel structures. A micro-mechanically-based fracture model is proposed, which comprises two ...
