The overarching theme of this thesis explores the relationship between pain and knee biomechanics during gait in people with knee osteoarthritis. This is explored by: 1) investigating the associations between pain and knee biomechanics in people with knee osteoarthritis via a systematic review and meta-analysis and, 2) determining the effect of a gait retraining intervention targeting knee biomechanics compared with active placebo gait retraining on pain and other patient reported outcome measures in people with medial knee osteoarthritis. The overarching theme of this thesis explores the relationship between pain and knee biomechanics during gait in people with knee osteoarthritis.
