    • Recent extensions to native chemical ligation for the chemical synthesis of peptides and proteins

Malins, Lara R.; Payne, Richard J.
      Published 2014-10-03
Native chemical ligation continues to play a pivotal role in the synthesis of increasingly complex peptide and protein targets twenty years after its initial report. This opinion article will highlight a number of recent, ...

    • Inhibition studies on Mycobacterium tuberculosis N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate uridyltransferase (GlmU)

Tran, Anh Thu; Wen, Daying; West, Nicholas P.; Baker, Edward N.; Britton, Warwick J.; Payne, Richard J.
      Published 2013-10-15
Peptidoglycan is an essential component of the cell wall of bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, that provides structural strength and rigidity to enable internal osmotic pressure to be withstood. The first ...

    • A common mechanism of clinical HIV-1 resistance to the CCR5 antagonist maraviroc despite divergent resistance levels and lack of common gp120 resistance mutations

Roche, Michael; Salimi, Hamid; Duncan, Renee; Wilkinson, Brendan L.; Chikere, Kelechi; Moore, Miranda S.; Webb, Nicholas E.; Zappi, Helena; Sterjovski, Jasminka; Flynn, Jacqueline K.; Ellett, Anne; Gray, Lachlan R.; Lee, Benhur; Jubb, Becky; Westby, Mike; Ramsland, Paul A.; Lewin, Sharon R.; Payne, Richard J.; Churchull, Melissa J.; Gorry, Paul R.
      Published 2013-04-20
The CCR5 antagonist maraviroc (MVC) inhibits human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) entry by altering the CCR5 extracellular loops (ECL), such that the gp120 envelope glycoproteins (Env) no longer recognize CCR5. The ...

    • Synthesis of peptides and glycopeptides with polyproline II helical topology as potential antifreeze molecules

Corcilius, Leo; Santhakumar, Gajan; Stone, Robert S.; Capicciotti, Chantelle J.; Joseph, Soumya; Matthews, Jacqueline M.; Ben, Robert N.; Payne, Richard J.
      Published 2013-06-15
A library of peptides and glycopeptides containing (4R)-hydroxy-l-proline (Hyp) residues were designed with a view to providing stable polyproline II (PPII) helical molecules with antifreeze activity. A library of ...
