Pre-election Economic and Fiscal Outlook

Abstract

The Charter of Budget Honesty Act 1998 requires the Secretaries to the Treasury and the Department of Finance and Administration to release a pre-election report that provides updated information on the economic and fiscal outlook. The pre-election Economic and Fiscal Outlook (PEFO) report, which must be released within ten days of the issue of the writ for a general election, was released on October 23, 2007. Coming so soon after the release of the MYEFO report, the PEFO this election year contain little in new information, particularly in the health portfolio.
