    • The first clinical treatment with kilovoltage intrafraction monitoring (KIM): A real-time image guidance method

      Keall, P; Ng, J; O'Brien, R; Colvill, E; Huang, C-Y; Poulsen, P; Fledelius, W; Juneja, P; Simpson, E; Bell, L; Alfieri, F; Eade, T; Kneebone, A; Booth, J
      Published 2015-01-01
PURPOSE: Kilovoltage intrafraction monitoring (KIM) is a real-time image guidance method that uses widely available radiotherapy technology, i.e., a gantry-mounted x-ray imager. The authors report on the geometric and ...

    • Breathing guidance in radiation oncology and radiology: A systematic review of patient and healthy volunteer studies.

      Pollock, S; Keall, P
      Published 2015-09-01
PURPOSE: The advent of image-guided radiation therapy has led to dramatic improvements in the accuracy of treatment delivery in radiotherapy. Such advancements have highlighted the deleterious impact tumor motion can ...

    • An MRI-compatible patient rotation system — design, construction, and first organ deformation results

Keall, P; Whelan, Brendan; Liney, Gary; Dowling, Jason; Rai, Robba; Holloway, Lois; McGarvie, Leigh; Feain, Ilana; Barton, Michael; Berry, Megan; Wilkins, Rob
      Published 2017-02-13
PURPOSE: Conventionally in radiotherapy, a very heavy beam forming apparatus (gantry) is rotated around a patient. From a mechanical perspective, a more elegant approach is to rotate the patient within a stationary beam. ...

    • Estimating lung ventilation directly from 4D CT Hounsfield unit values

      Kipritidis, J; Hofman, M; Siva, S; Callahan, J; Le Roux, P; Woodruff, H; Counter, W; Keall, P
      Published 2016-01-01
PURPOSE: Computed tomography ventilation imaging (CTVI) aims to visualize air-volume changes in the lung by quantifying respiratory motion in 4DCT using deformable image registration (DIR). A problem is that DIR-based ...
