    • Review of Real-Time 3-Dimensional Image Guided Radiation Therapy on Standard-Equipped Cancer Radiation Therapy Systems: Are We at the Tipping Point for the Era of Real-Time Radiation Therapy?

      Keall, P; Nguyen, DT; O'Brien, R; Zhang, P; Happersett, L; Bertholet, J; Poulsen, PR
      Published 2018-11-15
PURPOSE: To review real-time 3-dimensional (3D) image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) on standard-equipped cancer radiation therapy systems, focusing on clinically implemented solutions. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Three groups ...

    • MRI-Linear Accelerator Radiotherapy Systems

Liney, GP; Whelan, B; Oborn, B; Barton, M; Keall, P
      Published 2018-11-01
The desire to utilise soft-tissue image guidance at the time of radiation treatment has led to the development of several hybrid magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) linear accelerators (linacs). These systems have the potential ...

    • Cone-beam CT reconstruction with gravity-induced motion.

      Shieh, CC; Barber, J; Counter, W; Sykes, J; Bennett, P; Heng, SM; White, P; Corde, S; Jackson, M; Ahern, V; Feain, I; O'Brien, R; Keall, P
      Published 2018-10-01
Fixed-gantry cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), where the imaging hardware is fixed while the subject is continuously rotated 360° in the horizontal position, has implications for building compact and affordable ...

    • An augmented correlation framework for the estimation of tumour translational and rotational motion during external beam radiotherapy treatments using intermittent monoscopic x-ray imaging and an external respiratory signal.

      Nguyen, DT; Booth, JT; Caillet, V; Hardcastle, N; Briggs, A; Hadad, C; Eade, T; O'Brien, R; Keall, P
      Published 2018-10-01
Increasing evidence shows that intrafraction tumour motion monitoring must include both six degrees of freedom (6DoF): 3D translations and 3D rotations. Existing real-time algorithms for 6DoF target motion estimation require ...

    • Technical Note: Real-time image-guided adaptive radiotherapy of a rigid target for a prototype fixed beam radiotherapy system.

      Liu, P; Nguyen, DT; Feain, I; O'Brien, R; Keall, P; Booth, JT
      Published 2018-10-01
PURPOSE: Fixed beam radiotherapy systems utilize couch movement and rotation instead of gantry rotation in order to simplify linear accelerator design. We investigate the ability to deliver fixed beam treatments with the ...
