An interdimensional correlation framework for real-time estimation of six degree of freedom target motion using a single x-ray imager during radiotherapy.

Nguyen, DT; Bertholet, J; Kim, JH; O'Brien, R; Booth, JT; Poulsen, PR; Keall, P
Published 2017-12-01
Increasing evidence suggests that intrafraction tumour motion monitoring needs to include both 3D translations and 3D rotations. Presently, methods to estimate the rotation motion require the 3D translation of the target ...

Impact of audiovisual biofeedback on interfraction respiratory motion reproducibility in liver cancer stereotactic body radiotherapy.

Pollock, S; Tse, R; Martin, D; McLean, L; Pham, M; Tait, D; Estoesta, R; Whittington, G; Turley, J; Kearney, C; Cho, G; Hill, R; Pickard, S; Aston, P; Makhija, K; O'Brien, R; Keall, P
Published 2018-02-01
INTRODUCTION: Irregular breathing motion exacerbates uncertainties throughout a course of radiation therapy. Breathing guidance has demonstrated to improve breathing motion consistency. This was the first clinical ...

An in silico performance characterization of respiratory motion guided 4DCT for high-quality low-dose lung cancer imaging.

Martin, Spencer; O'Brien, Ricky; Hofmann, Christian; Keall, P; Kipritidis, John
Published 2018-07-01
This work aims to characterize the performance of an improved 4DCT technique aiming to overcome irregular breathing-related image artifacts. To address this, we have developed respiratory motion guided (RMG) 4DCT, which ...

Performance assessment of a programmable five degrees-of-freedom motion platform for quality assurance of motion management techniques in radiotherapy.

Huang, CY; Keall, P; Rice, A; Colvill, E; Ng, JA; Booth, JT
Published 2017-09-01
Inter-fraction and intra-fraction motion management methods are increasingly applied clinically and require the development of advanced motion platforms to facilitate testing and quality assurance program development. The ...

Audiovisual biofeedback improves the correlation between internal/external surrogate motion and lung tumor motion.

Lee, D; Greer, PB; Paganelli, C; Ludbrook, JJ; Kim, T; Keall, P
Published 2018-03-01
PURPOSE: Breathing management can reduce breath-to-breath (intrafraction) and day-by-day (interfraction) variability in breathing motion while utilizing the respiratory motion of internal and external surrogates for ...

An augmented correlation framework for the estimation of tumour translational and rotational motion during external beam radiotherapy treatments using intermittent monoscopic x-ray imaging and an external respiratory signal.

Nguyen, DT; Booth, JT; Caillet, V; Hardcastle, N; Briggs, A; Hadad, C; Eade, T; O'Brien, R; Keall, P
Published 2018-10-01
Increasing evidence shows that intrafraction tumour motion monitoring must include both six degrees of freedom (6DoF): 3D translations and 3D rotations. Existing real-time algorithms for 6DoF target motion estimation require ...

Shieh, CC; Barber, J; Counter, W; Sykes, J; Bennett, P; Heng, SM; White, P; Corde, S; Jackson, M; Ahern, V; Feain, I; O'Brien, R; Keall, P
Published 2018-10-01
Fixed-gantry cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), where the imaging hardware is fixed while the subject is continuously rotated 360° in the horizontal position, has implications for building compact and affordable ...

IGRT and motion management during lung SBRT delivery.

Caillet, V; Booth, JT; Keall, P
Published 2017-12-01
Patient motion can cause misalignment of the tumour and toxicities to the healthy lung tissue during lung stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Any deviations from the reference setup can miss the target and have ...
