The language output of bilingual children is thought to be influenced by a number of factors. “Parental/social input” and “the influence of the stronger language on the weaker language” are two of the most widely discussed influencing factors. Many researchers would agree that both of these factors contribute to the quality of language output, however the level of significance attached to these influences, taken separately or together, remains a matter of contention.en
