Abstract

Leone Niglia’s The Struggle for European Private Law: A Critique of Codification is an ambitious book, both scholarly and erudite. It capstones his interventions in the European codification debate drawing on the private law scholarship from different national traditions (principally France, Italy and Germany), often quoting such material in the original language. Originally published in 2015, it is a response to the European Commission’s proposals for the codification of European contract law.
