| dc.description.abstract | This PhD project explores the evolving landscape of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for medical practitioners, with a focus on the use of eHealth data analytics for strengthened CPD programs and practices. As traditional didactic approaches to CPD reveal limitations, a transformative shift towards outcome-focused and workplace-based activities is in progress. This aligns with regulatory policies emphasizing the integration of clinical performance and patient health data. In unveiling this multifaceted topic, this PhD project stands as a foundational piece of research in the field of Practice Analytics in Healthcare (PAH) as it provides an encompassing view of the academic, regulatory, and industry landscape in which the field is evolving. Research findings underscore the involvement of diverse stakeholders and the inherent uncertainties in practical application, emphasizing the complexity of the subject matter. Conclusions drawn from this PhD research project highlight that the pursuit of leveraging eHealth data analytics for strengthened CPD for medical practitioners is an ongoing endeavour. Existing challenges underscore the necessity of a holistic approach, innovative thinking, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to evidence-based and real-world solutions in the ever-evolving landscape of medical regulation and continuing education. This research advocates for further exploration, both theoretical and applied, to substantiate the value of eHealth data for CPD, construct a more comprehensive depiction of the CPD ecosystem, and provide guidance for successful implementation and cultural shift.
