dc.description.abstract | A lot has changed in the Australian media, especially with the rise of digital technologies –– and this chapter gives a bird’s eye view of this vastly altered landscape. Taking the early 1990s as a reference point, it outlines the main developments that underpin media in the 2020s. It looks at the key players in contemporary Australian media, and what the big changes have been in relation to–– understanding digitalisation, data, audiences and publics, as well as new forms of media power. Finally, the chapter ends with discussion of where Australian media fit into the global media environment, and what key questions we need to address. | en_AU |
