Adams, David JamesAbstract
The analysis of cancer genomes and the germline sequence of cancer patients has fundamentally changed our understanding of tumorigenesis and the ways in which we treat the disease. My work has focused on understanding the genetics of skin cancer and the functional analysis of cancer genes using approaches such as genome editing. My thesis describes my contributions to these areas and includes the chapters: Understanding the Genetics of Skin and other Cancers, The Functional Genomics of Cancer and Defining the Function of Mammalian Genes at Scale. The analysis of cancer genomes and the germline sequence of cancer patients has fundamentally changed our understanding of tumorigenesis and the ways in which we treat the disease.
