Situated in the centre of the Tunis Medina, I have decided to create a women’s cooperative, providing a space for local women to create, display and sell traditional goods. The building accommodates workshops, gallery, markets, function space and a rooftop childcare centre, and would provide a socially, economically and culturally empowering environment for women. The layout of the cooperative centres on bringing together the creative process and product, allowing visitors to see the artisans at work through connected workshop and gallery space. As well as providing a culturally enriching space for the local community, it also caters to the tourist population, engaging these two groups together.en
