| dc.description.abstract | My project is a shopping arcade. After I did some research, I found out that the tourists in Dubrovnik are left with limited choices of entertainment after visiting the city's famous spots. So, I have this idea of building a place for tourists to spend their time. In addition, I am fascinated with the street lamps which are hung outside the shops with shops' names on them. Thus, I decide to build a shopping arcade which only sells things that are unique to Dubrovnik. I choose a spot where people can have easy access to the arcade, which is the corner of my site that links the main streets and two narrow alleyways. It has a cross-shaped circulation to connect the alleyways and main streets. The arcade has red tiles roof just like the rest of Dubrovnik but it distingushes itself from the rest when viewed from the streets because it is enclosed by white walls. This way tourists might be curious about the building itself and want to visit it. The arcade has three levels. The first and second levels are shops which the public can access via the public staircase and lifts. Second level has corridors that connect the opposite shops. The third level consists of offices which can only be accesssed by the shops' workers using the private staircases. There is a total of ten shops and ten offices. | en |
