2010. Assign 1: Synthesis of Auditory Alerts

 

Students were asked to design and document a set of functional sounds for a context of their own choice. Functions could include alerting people to particular events, feedback on user operations, monitoring of data or conditions, navigation cues, warning signals, alarms, etc. After deciding on five functions to be met by the sounds to be synthesized, students prepared a 30 s - 60 s audio simulation of the context, including the functional sounds.
