The main design consideration was to provide a library which all Isfahanians could benefit from. To do this I created a space that contained both leisure, study and work areas. The rooftop garden and the internal courtyard are in keeping with traditional architecture, as are the materials of rammed earth and the use of repetitive square patterning on the facade of the building, geometry being highly prevalent in Iranian architecture. I think that over the semester I have developed my ideas well and have gained valuable knowledge in regard to design and the process of conveying my ideas to others. I particularly think my axonometric was successful and very important in allowing me to see my design in 3d as it highlighted what was and wasn’t working. In regard to the design, I find the internal courtyard to be the unifying feature and the core around which the library is designed. I found the drawings in particular to be the hardest aspect of the process as I was still not completely confident as to the exact way to draw plans, sections etc. To conclude, I found the project very beneficial and think that in the end, my entire design, including the model, drawings and portfolio, came together in unifying way. The project was highly enjoyable and never slowed down, which I think is what kept us going.
