Project summary: My design project is in Medina of Tunis. Tunis is the capital city of Tunisia, which located in north of Africa. From research, Tunis has very hot temperatures throughout the year, even though it’s in winter period. In Tunis there are many road and street stores. So just imagine how people will be finding with their comfort when they doing shopping at out door? Building a modern shopping center not only give the resident new experience, but also makes convenient for the people in this city, especially I decided to build the shopping center on top of metro station. In Tunis it’s hard for people to reach their destination, because many narrow roads and streets fill up by traffic. Heavy traffic is more likely will occur around my map site if not extra transport option people can take to get there, because my building is surrounded by many exciting programs, such as the Mosque, Cultural Center, new apartments, park and Women College, thus there will be a large amount of people will be traveling between this place and another places in the city. The program in this shopping center plays a very important role. What can shopping center really makes people to feel convenience? Or how it’s convenient for people when the shopping center is linked to metro station? To make sure the program is convenient for the people, but at the same time makes people able flow around the center, I decided to spread out the programs in different levels by divide the shopping center into three levels. Daily food is what we must buy. I placed a Café shop and Tunisian daily food stores on level one, its same level where people access to metro station. This is convenient for people to stop on their way to station and buy the food or they can just buy something quickly from the café shop. I placed two important programs; bank and post office in level two, because this helps to keep people to flow inside shopping center. Those two programs made the shopping center become a very important ‘character’ in this city, because people must deal with it every single day. My concept model is like a shell, the front space is empty and plain, but this is to encourage the flow of people, especially this is where people can access to the metro station. However, when people reaching the back where shops are, the atmosphere changes into a fun and cosy one.en
