dc.description.abstract | The essence of Madrid revolves around the community, siestas and fiestas, giving Madrid its own individual character. These unique characteristics influence everything impinge on - architecture, music, and ultimately life. A flourishing oasis in the form of a lounge/nightclub in the middle of the city draws the neighbourhood as well as lone travelers seeking for a taste of the ‘real’ Madrid. My design focuses on the idea of green architecture in the heart and soul of a bustling city. This contrasting of two architectures collides with the old and the new giving birth to a new building. The journey through the club emulates the intricacy of the archaic winding streets of Madrid. The parasitic nature of the bridge, tunneling into the neighbouring building to bind the lounge and nightclub together. Wrapped in vines of ivy and creepers the bridge itself is a living form that is part of the green architecture. The building façade is constructed from 2 layers of opaque and transparent glass, Allowing the building front to naturally ventilate. The floors of the building are polishing concrete, with the feature wall being the backside of the neighbouring buildings wall. The club has amalgamated all these concepts bringing the people together not just in a place but a space which shows off the essence of Madrid. | en |
