dc.description.abstractAlthough the more important group of papers: submitted deals with the flash vacuum pyrolysis of organic compounds, it is convenient to begin. with the other group of synthetic and heterocyclic papers and to relate these to my early postgraduate research training in Sydney, Cambridge, and M. I. T. My B.Sc. Honours and M.Sc. work, supervised by G. K. Hughes and E. Ritchie in Sydney, was concerned with the structures of furoquinoline alkaloids, e.g. maculosidine (1), with flindersine (2), and with the beginning of the structural work on the Himantandra alkaloids.en
