Modal analysis has been recently introduced to model brain dynamics by decomposing any brain activity in terms of its natural modes by deriving the corresponding eigenmodes on the cortical surface via NFT. This thesis uses a modal-polar representation of a well-established corticothalamic model of NFT to simplify the analysis of evoked responses, and eigenmode analysis to model and describe the mechanism of the alpha rhythm, which is the most prominent feature in a human EEG.
