See morePancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most common types of pancreatic cancer. However, it has one of the most dismal survival outcomes of all major cancers and is projected to become the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths by 2030. Due to its asymptomatic feature and poor prognostic outcomes for most patients, identifying biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction of treatment response could lead to the development of optimised treatment plans for PDAC patients. This thesis focused on identifying changes in biometals, proteins, and imaging parameters as potential biomarkers and drug targets with the aim to develop novel optimised treatment regimens for PDAC patients.
