This chapter provides an overview of treatment options and approaches for patients with cognitive impairment. The prevalence of cognitive impairment (CI) in people seeking treatment for alcohol use disorder (AUD) is high (up to two thirds with some form of impairment). Impaired cognitive functioning is related to poorer treatment retention and increased risk of relapse. Early assessment and ongoing monitoring of cognitive status is therefore essential for appropriate treatment planning and to maximise likelihood of treatment success.en
