    • Analysis-based 2D design of steel storage racks (No. R908)

Rasmussen, Kim J.R.; Gilbert, Benoit P.
      Published 2010
The report presents a study of the capacities of steel rack frames based on linear analysis (LA), geometric nonlinear analysis (GNA) and geometric and material nonlinear analysis (GMNIA). In the case of linear and geometric ...

    • Steel Cantilever Strength by Inelastic Lateral Buckling (No. R912)

      Trahair, Nicholas S.
      Published 2010
Methods used for the design of steel beams supported at both ends are not well suited for the design of cantilevers against lateral buckling. The end restraints are very different for cantilevers, and the maximum displacements ...

    • Shear Effect on Cruciform Post-Buckling (No. R929)

      Trahair, Nicholas S.
      Published 2012
The elastic post-torsional-buckling behaviour of a simply supported cruciform column has been analysed, and its strength has been approximated by assuming that it fails when it first yields due to the maximum normal stress ...

    • Post-buckling strength of steel tee columns (No. R937)

      Trahair, Nicholas S.
      Published 2013
This paper examines the effects of torsional post-buckling on the strengths of tee section steel columns which fail in local, torsional or flexural modes. Flexural-torsional buckling is not considered, but the post-buckling ...

    • Buckling Studies of Cold-Formed Channels in Shear using the Semi-Analytical Finite Strip and Spline Finite Strip Methods (No. R932)

Pham, Cao H.; Hancock, Gregory J.
      Published 2013
The finite strip method is computationally efficient for the static, stability, post-buckling and vibration analyses of thin-walled structures. The finite strip employs simple polynomial functions to describe the transverse ...
