    • Compression Tests of Cold-Reduced High Strength Steel Channel Columns failing in the Distortional Mode (No. R825)

      Yang, Demao; Hancock, Gregory J.
      Published 2003
This report describes a series of compression tests performed on lipped channel section columns fabricated from cold-reduced high strength steel of thickness 0.42 mm with nominal yield stress 550 MPa. The test results ...

    • Numerical Modelling of Stainless Steel Plates in Compression (No. R813)

Rasmussen, Kim J.R.; Burns, Tim; Bezkorovainy, Paul; Bambach, Michael
      Published 2002
The report describes the development of numerical models for analysing stainless steel plates in compression. Material tests on coupons cut in the longitudinal, transverse and diagonal directions are included as are the ...

    • Design Models for Thin-Walled Sections in Bending Containing Unstiffened Elements (No. R820)

      Bambach, Michael; Rasmussen, Kim J.R.
      Published 2002
This report presents a general design procedure for calculating the moment capacity of sections containing unstiffened elements under stress gradients. The method uses the design equations for calculating both elastic and ...

    • Lateral Buckling Strengths of Steel Angle Section Beams (No. R812)

      Trahair, Nicholas S.
      Published 2002
The design of unbraced steel angle section beams against biaxial bending and torsion requires the ability to predict their lateral buckling strengths when bent about the major principal axis. Present design code formulations ...

    • Strength Curves for Metal Plates in Compression (No. R821)

Bezkorovainy, Paul; Burns, Tim; Rasmussen, Kim J.R.
      Published 2002
The report presents a plate strength formulation applicable to metal in general, notably metals with nonlinear stress strain curves, such as aluminium and stainless steel alloys. The formulation is based on a generalised ...
