Fabrication of a large—scale quantum computer would drastically expand the scope of possible calculations, and is seen as one of the most important technological challenges of the near future. While a wide variety of different quan— tum computing architectures have been proposed, one particularly promising scheme due to Bruce Kane has attracted a great deal of experimental and theoretical attention, due to its scalability and use of conventional doped— silicon technology. In this thesis, I present simulations aimed at determining how such a device can be fabricated.
