<title>Sonification of Airplane Delays</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/2123/5636</link>
<description>Sonification of Airplane Delays
Mountfort, Petra
This assignment is an auditory interpretation of data from research on Airplane Delays from a couple of Americas busiest airports.
The sonification of Airplane Delays has been created through various synthesis techniques and also a collection of short percussive audio files that react along with the Main Max Patch becoming more intensive with the synthesis resulting in higher frequencies when more instances of delays occur.

<description>The rocking beach house jam... predicting the tides for future surf.
Minchella, Laura
The purpose of the final sonification is to provide various forms of information and insight dealing with the nature of the waves impacted at differing periods of time and the changing phases within the Luna cycle. In short, the “surfy widget” sonification informs its listeners of past wave height levels at four consecutive times per day over the past year (in the Port Denson area.)
Have some groovy fun!

<description>Sonification of European Fuel Prices using Drum Sounds
Dumesny, James
This maxMSP patch was designed to sonify data acquired from fuel prices in Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK between 1996 and 2000. This is done using drum sounds triggered by the value of the fuel price. A higher price triggers a higher pitched drum.

<description>Comparison between Merchandise Imports into NSW From the USA and UAE from 1988 to 2009
Sayegh, Gilbert
I have designed a sonification system to “read back” data collected over time. My purpose is to design a feedback of results that is not visual but through audio. I aim to discover something new through the use of audio. In the designed patch we have a comparison between the USA and UAE imports.

The dataset I have chosen is sonified by mapping to the ADSR envelopes, the harmonic frequencies, and other effects such as overdrive and reverberation of a synthesizer made in MAXMSP in order to play a midi file piece of music about issues highlighted in the dataset through said synthesizer.
Since the dataset is about STI awareness, i have chosen a song about STIs, King's of Leon's Sex on Fire. Unfortunately it doesn't sound as impressive through a mono synth.

<description>Australia's Employment Sonification (1978 - 2009)
Lim, Daniel
The files submitted belong to Assignment 2 for DECO 1013 - Sound Design and Sonification, Daniel Lim 308222156. I was unable to achieve the goals I set for making the sonification; creating two harmonic sounds rising with one another instead of major and minor chords representing good news or bad news. However my sonification does exhibit the increasing trend in which the data suggests, thus sonifying the data appropriately.
Apologies for the simpleness of the patch. I was unsure of how to manipulate the sounds to a higher degree using MaxMSP.
