Authors: Tweedley, Hayden
Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of reproducing a faithful Leslie speaker audio effect without suffering the physical and economical overheads associated with the analog hardware. In response to this, a practical and portable solution is proposed utilising modern digital technology. This is presented as a lucrative investment opportunity for the suitable venture capitalists.

Authors: Jimenez, Daniel R.
Abstract: This document intends to explain the audio development project proposed to emulate the spatial effect of having a sound source moving in a 3D sonic environment. Throughout this document the reader will see a detailed explanation of how the problem was approached, the specific requirements needed to achieve the result, how this requirements were implemented using MatLab coding and how the end product was tested to evaluate the effectiveness of the solution provided.
MatLab files will also be provided so that the reader can associate the concepts being described in order to have a better understanding of the process followed to develop this application.

Title: DESC9115 WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT 2: FINAL REVIEW
Authors: Johnson, Samuel
Abstract: The use of delay as an audio and musical effect that has been used since the coming of tape recordings. It involves the signal being taken and “stored” then played back at a later time, either once or multiple times. In modern western music, it is hard to find a song that does not use some form of delay in their mix which is why it is important to create a user friendly, great sounding, accurate delay. A real delay is caused when a sound wave reflects off a surface and because of the extra time taken to get to the receiver (the ear) it has a lagged effect. Their use in the musical realm has been taken to a new level with the use of parameter settings and modulation types, the average Joe can easily create his or her own effect to suit their specific needs.

Title: The Doppler Effect Final Review
Authors: Shaun, Peffer
Abstract: The Doppler effect plug-in may be a lucrative niche market that has never been thoroughly explored. The Doppler effect is a real world phenomena than can be implemented musically, the same way a pitch shifter or chorus/flangers have in the past. I propose A Doppler Effect ‘effect’ that can be sold and used as a plug-in on various instruments such as electric guitars, synthesizers or even percussive instruments such as congas or shakers. This will be a revolutionary and one of the only dedicated spatial audio plug-ins to the Doppler Effect made in the world. The lack of Doppler plug-ins on the market indicates that there will be little competition and possibly a valuable niche market. A Doppler effect plug in will give customers a creative tool and a unique opportunity to spatially and melodically manipulate their sounds in an unconventional and new way.

Title: Spatial chorus effect with fractal modulation - venture capitalist pitch
Authors: Taylor, Robert Walter
Abstract: INTERGRATED DIGITAL AUDIO SYSTEMS is a ‘garage’ operation that for the past two years has been designing cutting edge digital audio effects for 21st century audio production. Our products until now have been bootleg beta releases that due to increasing popularity have gone viral around the globe with underground artists. In particular, the success of “Smashup”, an effect system that recognizes the type of distortion required before the artist even thinks about it has become a worldwide sensation. Unfortunately due to the nature of bootleg releases no income has yet been achieved from our designs however our profile has become significantly increased warranting a new direction in implementation. We see commercialization being the next important step in our evolution to become a dominant force in digital audio effects.
We are currently seeking a partnership with an established research and development company for the implementation of software and hardware based products for commercial release globally. We would like to take this opportunity to present our latest effect design and explain in detail how it works and why we consider it to be the flagship of this new evolution.

Abstract: The assignment examines the necessity of dynamic range compression, specifically limiting, as it applies to loudspeaker protection in the live production industry. The issues surrounding current practice and products are also presented. A theoretical case is made for the development of a new limiting product, based upon a matlab function created in a previous assignment.

Title: Spatial Chorus 'Help page' and instructions for MatLab (revised version)
Authors: Taylor, Robert Walter
Abstract: This is the MatLab 'Help page' and instructions for the 'Spatial Chorus with fractal modulator with extended user functions' previously submitted. Description: Chorus effects in general give the user no control over both the modulation signal and the spatial aspects inherent in chorusing. This function represents a new design for a ‘spatial’ chorus effect that incorporates a modulation signal derived from a fractal algorithm with low-pass filter control, and the implementation of extensive user controls and parameters that center around the de-correlation of left/right signal paths resulting in a spatially enhanced outcome.

Spatial chorus effect with fractal modulation and enhanced user functions (revised version)

Title: Spatial chorus effect with fractal modulation and enhanced user functions (revised version)
Authors: Taylor, Robert Walter
Abstract: The underlying strategy of the stereo chorus effect is to emulate the combination of multiple similar voices in unison and provide an extended stereo image. Like it’s close cousin the flanger, it also uses a system whereby a signal is added to a dynamically delayed exact replica of itself. One important distinguishing factor between the two effects however lie in the way the delay line duration is modulated. For a chorus effect to attempt to recreate the realism and tiny discrepancies of a multi-layered ensemble, the modulation must be generally faster, and provides a superior result if the modulation has a random character, rather than a regular periodic character. Chorus effects in general give the user little control over both the modulation signal and the spatial aspects inherent in chorusing. This paper will discuss a new design for a ‘spatial’ chorus effect that incorporates a modulation signal derived from a fractal algorithm with resonant low-pass filter control on the modulation signal. The implementation provides extensive user controls and parameters that center around the de-correlation of left/right signal paths resulting in a spatially enhanced outcome.

Authors: Sjarif, Nathaniel
Abstract: This matlab function explores the musical limitations of convolution reverb by utilising movement in panorama. Convolves Mono Dry Signal with an Impulse response to give a wet signal.
Wet signal is sent to a panning function to create movement in the stereo field.
Panned wet signal is then added to dry signal with a variable ratio.
