Description: William H. Deane was the Rare Books and Special Collection Library's largest benefactor. The collection comprises the remainder of Deane's private library after part of the original collection was destroyed by fire, and materials purchased from the Deane funds to supplement the collection. Its strengths are material on the history and philosophy of science, witchcraft, demonology and significant Australiana. The Deane collection also includes a large collection of erotica as well as the Deane business archives.</description>

Description: The volume was once in the collections of the Librarian of the Chetham School, Manchester, J. H. Hindley (d. 1827), of John Lee (d.l866), and Sir Charles Nicholson, Bart.  Folio 52 verso on view: Boccaccio's description of the Fountain Sorgia at Vaucluse, containing praise of his preceptor Petrarch who was a frequent visitor to the celebrated spring. See the last few lines on the folio.</description>

Abstract: 4th March, 1602.           Conveyancing Notes: The deed recites that : (1) Thomas Draper, by deed dated 19th July 1594, had sold the land to John Dumowle. (2) John Dumowle had by deed dated 28th June 1596 sold the land for 109 pounds to James Wolveridge. (3) James Wolveridge had by deed dated 23rd April 101, bargained and sold the land to Nicholas Draper by way of Mortgage to secure 150 pounds and interest. Nicholas Draper then bargains and sells the propert to William Draper, and appoints William his attourney to secure the Mortgage money.
